May 5 Show
My stomach was in knots this morning because I heard there was a tough judge at the show! I expected scores in the 40s or 50s. But Izhe was excited and eager to go: Hang on, Mom, let's go vvroooommm!!! Normally all the rising trot is difficult for me, but we flew through it, stayed in the ring, on course, and for 1-1 scored 61.852%! Then after a nice long break, Mom made a couple mistakes in 1-3 for a 60%. Maybe I'm learning how to ride if we managed well with a tough judge?! And thank you to Auntie Linda Wolff for coming and supporting us and helping us! She had oodles of compliments for Izhe. Thanks also go to Jenny Schmitt for the awesome braiding job!

Our highlights were two scores of 65% at First Level! We just need a bunch more!

June 15-16
Two shows back to back! I thought we did well on Friday, but our scores weren't so good. On Saturday I tried harder, asked more from Izhe, and it paid off. We raised our Second Level score to 62%! Woo hoo! We have our Second Level scores towards a Bronze Medal! Our First Level turned out to be a 63%, and then I scratched our last ride in the afternoon because it was 100 degree heat index and worse in the direct sun. Now we need one more score, so perhaps we'll go to Sliverwood at the end of September. Thanks to Talena and Alicia, and Linda W for coming to see us and help us!

Sliverwood in September
Thanks to Becky and George for trailering Izhe ALLLLL the way to Sliverwood! I rode conservatively the first ride because I wasn't sure how Iz would react. Iz was a good boy, so for the second ride, I asked him for everything I could! We scored mid-60s. Then it was home to work on 2nd level for the next weekend at Sorensens. (Sorry, didn't get any photos at Sliverwood.)

October 6 at Sorensens
Thanks to our trainer Jenny Schmitt for trailering us to the last show of the season so we could attempt 2-1 and 2-2! It rained Friday and Friday night, so there were some lakes around the grounds and arenas, and many puddles. In the warm up, Izhe didn't want to canter through puddles, so he JUMPED over one of them, and the rest he broke to trot. In our tests, there was a huge lake at C. What a disaster for our walk-canter at C! Despite the footing, we earned 63, and 61 on our very first 2-2 ever! Woo hoo!!!! Looking forward to preparing for 2019 which may be our final year of competition.
